nook glowlight space issues

Yesterday I went to add a new book onto my nook glowlight, and got the error message that the file "can’t be copied because there isn’t enough free space." I currently only have about a hundred books on there, which seems low to be full already.

Additional information:

*the nook is a little over a year old. I still have the receipt, but I think it is out of warranty by now.
*it says that it still has 311.4MB available. seems like that should be plenty of space for lots more books.
*if I delete a file I can replace it with a new one
*I've scanned over all the files on it and do not see anything large and mysterious

Does it sound like something strange is going on, or does this seem normal? if something is wonky, where do I take it? (Is it even worth trying to take it somewhere, or do I just go with the swap-files-as-needed method?)

Thanks!

Have you tried turning it all the way off and all the way on again? I get a certain number of random messages on my nook glowlight and that's what I do. Otherwise of course you can put books in the cloud, if they are B&N books. You can take it in to any B&N too, and they will help you out.

I've seen graphic novels that were that large. Were you trying to load a very large item onto the Glowlight, maybe?

You can also call NOOK support at 1-800-843-2665 (1-800-THE-BOOK) if that's easier than going into a store.

I'm looking at my glowlight. I've got almost 300 books on it, and 1.74GB of storage for B&N books, and 450MB for non B&N content. There is a much lower limit on non B&N content but I always have quite a few Gutenberg and Edelweiss books and have never had an issue. But yes, you could be having an issue if you are trying to sideload a large file. Do try rebooting though.

Response by poster: Tried turning it off and back on again, but still getting the same message. The files are definitely not large. None of my books are from B&N though (mix of google, guttenberg, and a03) so maybe the mysterious space it's telling me I have is dedicated to B&N content. I'll take it into a store next time I have a chance and see if they can confirm. Thanks all!

It's been a while, but I think the Nook is partitioned so most of the extra space available is for stuff you get from the BN store.

Yeah, that is the problem; much less space for non-B&N books. Why they don't have an SD card slot is beyond me. They'll tell you that at B&N too.

They used to be able to re-partition the tablets at the stores, it might be worth giving them a call to see if they can do it for the e-reader.
