I like big butts and I cannot lie...

Give me all your songs in celebration of a lady's derrière. Fat or fit, refined or crude -- it's all good, but the more elegant and respectful, the better.

The gold standard here is Mya's "My love is like Wo." Some of the reasons this is the gold standard: It is a woman who is bragging about herself; the video has a woman shaking her butt and even smacks her own butt at one point; the song is an ode to the lady first and foremost. Yes, she considers her booty to be one of her finest assets, but it isn't objectifying, if that distinction makes sense.

I think Eminem's "Ass like that" is funny as hell, but it doesn't quite hit the note I am looking for. It is on the rude, crude, socially unacceptable side of that line. I am poor white trash, so that works for me. But imagine the target audience is a very refined gentleman who will lose his boner over any implication he is being disrespectful while he checks out your ass.

I also welcome ass-slapping, ass-groping music videos for songs not specifically about the booty, such as Barenaked Ladies
One Week. Preferably romantic in tone or about a relationship, as that one is.

Thank you!

Best answer: Some country-pop: Honky Tonk Badonkadonk by Trace Adkins. "Lord have mercy, how'd she even get them britches on?"

It's... pretty far from respectable. Can't be seen from respectable, in fact.

Response by poster: Sunburnt, thank you for the hilarious description. I was actually hoping for more of that sort of annotation with songs: "Here is my attempt at a respectable submission to your list. But there is also this other awesome song for list, however it cannot see respectable from here."

I am best answering it for that reason alone and I have no idea what the sing is.

Best answer: It's pretty nearly the opposite of refined, but it's the apex of bootie music--or anyway it's an apex of bootie music. It's canon. It's essential. It's about so much more than some one person's respectable butt; it's about everybody's butt; it's about liberation for all butts, everywhere.
Freedia.
Freedia.
Freedia owns this genre.

That's what it's about, though: inspiring people to want to live out on a limb and do something different and be, you know, go outside the box of what they normally do, you know what I'm saying, like... That's what it's about.

Best answer: If you like the My Humps suggestion but want tasteful, you must check out Alanis Morissette's cover version of that song!

Maybe Feelin' On Yo Booty by R Kelly. It's more like a love ballad with a chorus about feeling on a woman's booty.

Pull Over by Trina is trashy, but the chorus is literally "pull over, that ass too fat" and she raps about her butt the whole time.

That Mya song isn't really about her ass, although she does say "My ass is like whoa" in it. Maybe you'd like Body Party by Ciara? "My body, it's a party."

Best answer: Missy Elliott really seems to enjoy her body in Work It. (That seems to be a radio edit, so you can find one where she refers to her ass rather than her tail, if you prefer.)

Response by poster: This is not a bogus question. I accept your challenge and have thus marked everything as best answer. I will let it be my problem to sort out which songs best hit the spot, likely a lengthy and tedious process.

Also: ermagahd! That song is called Tush??? All these years, I thought they were looking for a little touch. Mind: Blown.

Thanks all!

Response by poster: Still slowly going through these. Really enjoying the original "Baby got back" and still getting a huge kick out of "All about that bass" which was a new song to me. It is all kinds of wonderful. Thanks to the folks who suggested that.

Will note that "Milk, Milk, Lemonade" is the real place from which respectful cannot even be seen. Compared to that, "Honkytonk badonkadonk" is good clean country fun. MML is also wonderfully catchy, leaving me with mixed feelings about having watched it and it will likely be hard to forget. :-p
