mp3Blogs: What are your current favorites? I'm less interested in pop and indie stuff. I want more world, old-timey, novelties. I know they are lots of lists out there but I'd like to know about your faves.

Not a mp3 blog per say but theres retro pop goodness at Crap from the Past Its big on pop but the Febuary 11 2005 show is full of novelties.

I rather enjoy WFMU's Beward of the Blog. It's mostly kitschy, novelty or bizarre stuff.

Easily the most eccentric and eclectic (in the true sense of the word; not just hipsters who like
both "indie" and "hip hop") blog around is TofuHut. In the past six months or so, there have been maybe ten posts, but today, John, its author, reappeared and appears to promise more regular output.

Tuwa's Shanty is also reliably excellent on modern American music from Jazz onward.

Worldly Disorientation Is my favourite world music MP3blog.

Shake Your Fist steers reliably clear of the same half dozen indie darlings all the other MP3blogs circle jerk over discovering, but does sticks mainly to (unfamiliar) contemporary British and American alternative (with the occasional foray into Italian hardcore post-rock).

And finally, Stephin's Sources is nominally an MP3blog about songs that have inspired Stephin Merritt, the creative force behind Magnetic Fields. If you're familiar with Magnetic Fields, you'll know that this could conceivably include virtually anything recorded in the 20th century. E.g. this week it's Gilbert and Sullivan, but a couple of weeks ago it was John Cage's 4'33". You need not be a Magnetic Fields fan to enjoy it (but it might turn you into one).

Honey, Where You Been So Long? has a lot of ace pre-war blues; Spread the Good Word focuses on nooks and crannies of rock & roll, consistently serving up good tracks I'd never heard before; and Benn loxo du taccu posts awesome contemporary African tracks.

There are others I like but they don't fit your criteria. :-) You might take a look at the exhaustive sidebar on Tofu Hut for further picks.
