The best maple candy money can buy (online)

As a kid, I remember visiting a maple farm, and getting maple candy, and it was delicious. If I don't live near any maple farms now, what's the best stuff I can buy online? The stuff I remember was kind of granular and sugar-crystal-y in texture.

Best answer: I had to stop buying these because I would eat them all in one sitting when they arrived.

We have a ton of mom and pop operations here that do maple candy mail order. The big deal is that there are two kinds: 100% and "blended" which has regular sugar mixed in (i.e. not as mapley) and is cheaper. Everyone's got their favorite place. These guys are in my town.

If you are near a Cost Plus/World Market they carry maple sugar candy in their stores--I believe it is the 100% type.

was it opaque and sandy coloured? It was possibly maple sucre à la crème, which is basically maple sugar, condensed milk and butter. Ste Julie Sucre à la crème au sirop d'érable is the big brand here.

(it's basically the same as my Scots Tablet recipe, which I will not self-link to.)
