Building a non-traditional website for law firm. Photo ideas needed.
July 10, 2015 2:49 PM   Subscribe

Client is requesting photographs to complement a homespun website. Links and examples of non-corporate looking websites are encouraged. The client specializes in financial and estate planning, and would like to utilize images in, and around, the neighborhood where firm is located.

The client is currently utilizing stock images that misrepresent his practice. (i.e.: corporate, steel tower, metropolitan look.) While I have ideas in mind for a portrait---not the traditional headshot--for this client, any suggestions are encouraged. If this matters in the slightest, the client is male.

Client's office is located in Portland, Oregon. Specifically, the law firm is located in the SE Montavilla neighborhood, so knowledge of points of interest and landmarks in this neighborhood would be a bonus.

Any additional insights to this project, be it visual ideas or other considerations, are appreciated.

Many thank yous.

Would a woodcut look be going too far?

Response by poster: To be certain, I am only looking for photography ideas. Not actual web-design ideas. Client has someone working on the website, I am supplying the photographs. By providing me with links to non-corporate-looking law firm websites, I can gather ideas.

Maybe a then and now style photo of local landmarks?

On the photography side:
Mt. Tabor is the landmark in that area. I'm sure you could get some nice panoramas from the park at the top. And nature/forest/tree imagery is popular in both financial and estate planning.

Also mountain, peak, etc.

I know I've seen attractive 'old-fashioned' or 'rural' looking law firm sites before but having trouble finding any atm..but just an auto-scaling top-menu with drop downs over an image like this one would fit the typical squarespace-type mold most law firm sites fit into.

thompson law firm
hingson law firm
nay & friedenberg
Offered mostly for the prevalence of natural imagery in estate and financial planning, and the coordinated color/font selection than for the site designs, which are not so hot.
