Is Symbaloo a virus?

I recently bought a new laptop. I signed into Windows on the new PC with my old Microsoft account. Symbaloo seems to have been transferred from my old laptop.

Could someone please explain what's happened? The design of Symbaloo to me looks like malware. Thanks for any advice.

It's not been transferred from your old laptop, it's associated with your Microsoft account, apparently. A search tells me that Symbaloo is 'a free social bookmarking service in the cloud'. It does not look like malware to me and it's not something that lives on your laptop, I think.

Also, if Symbaloo is not something you want on your machine, you should be able to right-click the tile from the Start screen and choose "Uninstall" from the context menu.

Is it an "App" - were you running Windows 8/8.1 originally and on the new PC?

If it is an "App", I have found that some can automatically install when you login to a new machine.

(Yes - it is an "App", available from the Windows App store)
