How to Give the Fado?

My friends will be in Lisbon in October on their honeymoon, and I'd like to treat them to a night at a Fado restaurant. I've done some research and found a few places that look great, but I'm not sure how the logistics would work in terms of my paying. I know that there are theaters where you can hear Fado music, but I'm looking for a more traditional restaurant setting None of the restaurants I've seen advertise gift certificates or another obvious way of my paying for them. How can I do this?

There's a good chance that many of them do offer gift certificates and would arrange to sell you one if you emailed them about it.

Another option might be to give them the gift of a tour that includes a Fado dinner. You could either book the tour in advance for them, though you'd need to coordinate with their schedule, so it wouldn't be a surprise, or get a gift certificate from the tour company so they can book it themselves. The good thing about a tour company GC is that the tour company is much more likely to have english-speaking staff when you contact them. The bad thing is that the tour is likely to be more expensive and there's a not insignificant chance that the restaurants they take you to will be particularly touristy.
