How claustrophobic are Lima's catacombs?

Can anyone who's been to the San Francisco catacombs in Lima tell me how crowded and tight they are?

Lots of things online say they aren't for the claustrophobic, but I'm fine with small spaces as long as I know I can leave if I need to. So, for instance, if you have to go in single file and it's tight enough I couldn't turn around and go back, that would bother me. But if it's just low ceilings and small rooms, and I could bail if I started to get twitchy, that would be fine.

Best answer: My recollection is that it's the latter -- low ceilings and small rooms. But it's been several years and I can't say that aspect made a huge impression on me, so I'm not totally sure.

Best answer: I'm not claustrophobic, but I don't remember them being particularly bad in the ways you're talking about. Certainly, I don't recall any other visitors noticeably having difficulties with it, or complaining.

Best answer: I don't remember any narrow hallways either. Mostly low ceilings and wide arched (but low) hallways.

Best answer: I'm somewhat claustrophobic, and I don't remember even noticing in the catacombs. I think some parts are a little narrow, but they lead into more open spaces, so that makes up for it. It's also very well-lit, so there's no creepy underground feeling.

Response by poster: Just got back from the tour, not a problem at all. Thanks everyone!
