Who makes the contributor profile picture cartoons for the New Yorker?

I like the cartoony contributor profile pictures in the New Yorker. link.
Who makes these? How are they made and is there a web site where you can make your own?
Not an answer, but if you have any kind of craftiness at all, you might try cross-stitching a portrait based on the templates here. Cross stitch doesn't take a lot of practice and has low entry costs. Also, I've made four portraits so far and they're surprisingly recognizable!
