Help me find funny, visually interesting, high energy music videos
May 24, 2015 8:15 AM   Subscribe

My 10 year old niece and 7 year old nephew really like to watch music videos. The ones they love most are goofy, high energy, and have some type of underlying story. They are particularly into music that is danceable and visually they like bright colors and crazy costumes or interesting outfits. A few they have liked recently are Con Bro Chill and Meghan Trainor. Any suggestions for other artists they might like?

I see there are a few previous Asks that are relevant, and I'll look through those too, but I'm looking specifically for artists that are new/current.

You probably want to look up music videos by Michel Gondry. Almost all of them fit the above criteria.

Supergrass - Alright
Pulp - Common People
B52s - Love Shack

Videos I loved as a kid:

Adam & the Ants - Stand and Deliver - Goodie Two Shoes
Billy Joel - Uptown Girl
Stray Cats - Stray Cat Strut
The Cars - You Might Think
Men at Work - Down Under
Men Without Hats - Safety Dance
Madness - Our house - House of Fun
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Don't Come Around Here no More
The Clash - Rock the Casbah
Queen - Radio Gaga - I Want To Break Free - A Kind of Magic
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams

This one might be a bit too mature, but it fascinated teenage me:
Army of Lovers - Crucified

Don't Come Around Here No More might be a little nightmare fuel-y for a 7 year old. Spoiler: Alice (of Wonderland fame) gets turned into a cake and watches herself, horrified, get eaten by the band. The video ends with her screaming and Tom Petty swallowing her fading face, then wiping his mouth with a napkin.

7-year-old me was terrified. 36-year-old me thinks it's brilliant.
