Can I convert Feliway plug-in diffuser liquid to a spray?

I bought a lot of Feliway plug-in diffuser refills but this morning the diffuser started smoking, which I've since learned is a very common occurrence. Can I take the liquid and dilute it to use as a spray, or is there something dangerous about it?

Feliway sells a spray, so it should be fine.

Best answer: The chemicals in the Feliway diffuser liquid shouldn't be harmful, but it is much oilier than the Feliway spray, which is alcohol-based, so beware of applying it to anything you don't want to get grease stains on.
