That gif and much more information can be found at the MySpace site of The Coalition Against Hardcore Dancing. (Is that where you found it?) It's what kids do these days. Why they can't just headbang and play air guitar like decent folks I don't know.

I'm sure there must be "all-ages" hardcore/screamo/metalcore shows in Seattle and this will be what goes on there. If you decide to go check it out, prepare to feel old and sensible.

Dude, they're at a hardcore show, and they are hardcore dancing. The Agnostic Front Air Punch is a classic, but the Spinning Hook-Kick is a modern step. Back in my day, we used to settle for Pickin' Up Change, The Windmill, The Wall of Death, and -- well, just running into each other. But, as an old-timer who occasionally plays the bass for a hardcore band or two, I can definitely say this is neo-mosing. The band is prolly a local hardcore/screamo outfit. Looks like a good time.

There are a lot of really, really funny videos of hardcore dancing floating around. The kids in the scene all seem to think they're simultaneously hilarious and awesome.

I have a 21-year-old brother who goes to see lots of bands I've never heard of, who loves to dance, and who has come home from shows with broken glasses and cell phones and a lost wallet (on different occasions). I'm now horrified at the thought that this might be what he's doing.

That is hilarious and awesome. I bet they are right.

With the exception of the cell phone, all of these things occured to me twenty years ago as a sprat. Ah, youth!
