I want to find a good hotel for the wife and I to stay in near the Botanical Garden in St Louis Mo. Just a good place that serves breakfast- open to low and hi cost-Suggestions, thanks

You specified hotel, but I just stayed in this Air BnB that's a ten minute walk to the Botanical Garden this past weekend. Besides being adorable and ridiculously affordable, the generous owners stock the place with a full fridge of breakfast and lunch materials. Free WiFi, too.

Best answer: For upscale, Chase Park Plaza in the Central West End. Smaller-scale boutique upscale, Hotel Ignacio in Grand Center. Both of these will be ~10 minutes or less from MOBOT depending on traffic, but they're definitely not walking distance. If you're planning to also see Forest Park, it's hard to beat Chase Park Plaza (it's across the street). If you're going to see a show at the Fox Theater or anywhere else in Grand Center, Hotel Ignacio is walking distance.

There's a cluster of chain hotels at Hampton and I-44 that will likely be more reasonably priced, including a Drury Inn, a Holiday Inn and a Red Roof Inn. I've heard hit-or-miss reviews from out of town guests with these. They're right on the highway, and so they'll also be less than 10 minutes from MOBOT.

Another chain cluster is at I-44 at Lindbergh Boulevard/Watson Road, which I'd make 15 minutes or so away. Some guests just stayed at the Holiday Inn Route 66 and liked it.

Really, the Botanical Garden is just off of I-44, so if you pick a place near a highway in the region, you'll likely be no more than about 20 minutes' drive away, depending on traffic of course. I also have no idea what any of these do for breakfast.

+1 for Chase Park Plaza.

There are some nice bed and breakfasts in the area, which have the perks of being locally-run, within walking distance, and far away from the Cardinals/Blues crowds that gather near the hotels downtown.

Also, not for nothing, but the Central West End/Chase Park Plaza is rather far from the botanical garden, and not easily accessible via public transportation (you'd have to take the metro and then a bus).

I live in Tower Grove East (near the botanical garden) and it is a lovely area. I am happy to provide other suggestions for food, activities, etc. via memail if you would like!

As a longtime St. Louis resident (until recently), I can't recommend the Omni downtown enough, mainly because of the charm of the building, the friendly staff, and the free shuttle provided for guests, which should get you to the Botanical Gardens easily. Not to mention, downtown is very walkable, with good restaurants within a block or two of the hotel.
