Gift for family in Israel

My brother is going to visit some family in Isreal -- a cousin and her two elementary-school aged children (boys). What might be a nice gift to bring from America?
We don't know the family very well, and we would like the gift to be a surprise...
I always go for food in these situations; certainly no Israeli I know would turn down something tasty. In particular, they might appreciate some real maple syrup, which isn't always easy to get outside of North America. Regional specialties are good, too -- just be sure you don't pack fresh fruits or vegetables for customs reasons.
