Unicorn moving, NYC-->PHL edition

For some reason, I have not been able to find a moving service that uses reusable boxes, offers short-term (~1 month) storage, and will move NYC to Philadelphia. Anyone have any ideas?

Non-negotiable: reusable boxes. If I have to assemble, tape together, and discard cardboard boxes as part of this move, I will cut my hands off in rage and despair. Reusable boxes are a must.

Also non-negotiable: must have a range of service that allows a move from NYC to Philadelphia.

Somewhat negotiable: allows for storage of the entire contents of a 1-bedroom apartment so that I have some flexibility in move-in date. If this is absolutely not compatible with the previous two requirements, I could (resignedly) make it work such that I move straight from one apartment to the next with no storage time in between.

So far, the chewing-gum-and-scotch-tape worst case scenario has been that I forgo the storage, rent boxes from a reusable box company that serves New York (e.g. Jugglebox), use a separate moving company to move to Philadelphia, and then drive the boxes back to NYC in a U-Haul to return them. I would really rather not do this, so I am turning to you all for help in finding someone who offers these three features (reusable boxes, storage, and NYC-Philly move) as part of one company/service. HELP.

please help [weeps]

It's been several years now, but I left NYC for the West using Flat Rate Movers and they were delightful in every way. I was pleased. They stored items for me for a month. I don't know about boxes.

Is it just the cardboard you hate? I used my own boxes: I bought about 16 or so Sterilite and Rubbermaid bins of varying sizes (18 gallon - 30 gallon) with lids at the Target in Brooklyn for $7 to $14 apiece. Waterproof. Easy to carry. Packed them myself and taped the lids shut. Labeled 'em. I move every couple of years so I still have them, but you might donate them to a charity, which'd be cheaper and/or less time-consuming than driving rental boxes back to the city.

Movers Not Shakers might be able to do it. They service the East Coast and can store stuff. You'd have to see about renting the plastic bins for a full month though - not sure if their inventory can deal with that kind of flux.

Response by poster: Just filled out Movers Not Shakers' entire inventory form to find on the last page that they only provide their bins for 5-borough moves... 😭😭😭

I've thought of a different work-around if no news of local unicorns is forthcoming.

1. Buy plastic bins from whoever has some you like for cheap.

2. Use Pod or similar service that allows storage.

3. Sell the bins on Craigslist and have someone come take them away. You will have takers, and it should be at least as cost effective as renting them.

I just reread mochapickle's answer and realized I basically just repeated it except that mochapickle is more generous to charities.

Frog Box Moving does this in the twin cities. You could look at their website for key words to help with your googling or call them to see if they know of a similar service in your area.
