What are some good, comfortable men's black socks that come in packs? White socks also needed!

I would like to buy my spouse a large number of the same socks so that laundry is easier. Both black and white socks are needed. Please give me some ideas of cost-effective, comfortable socks!

I only wear black socks and have recently noticed a decrease in the quality of the brand (Gold Toe) I've been wearing for 8 or 9 years. Basically, they've become a lot more flimsy, with holes appearing after only a few washes. Looking at alternatives, I recommend Wigwams - they're very sturdy, but quite comfortable.

Denver Hayes socks at Marks are awesome. I have pairs that I must have worn for 5 or 6 years and the elastic is still good, haven't holed, and haven't piled up.

The low-cut ones are great for summer.

The Goodwill where I live sells new socks.

You don't say where you are in the world. Whenever I visit the UK I stock up on Marks and Spencers socks, which are sold in packs of seven pairs or so.

For cheap socks, H&M is a reasonable choice. My husband wears their socks and they last pretty well.

I've also been a fan of gold toe, but noticed the same thing lately as tecg. For black socks, the kind Target has in packs of 10 (I don't know the brand) aren't too bad and last quite a while.

Came in to suggest Gold Toe, but my pairs are 8-9 years old (never seen a hole) and I am sad to hear they are lower quality now.

I've been buying these Hanes socks at Target, they've held up pretty well so far (~4 years? I think?).
