Foreign Destination wedding and tuxedo rental

Hey folks, need advice about how (logistically) to most easily rent/return formal attire for a wedding where I'll take several buses and flights between home and the wedding, then fly out directly for backpacking.

I'll be travelling Seattle -> Vancouver, BC by bus, then flying to Dublin, Ireland, taking the bus to Cork, then driving out (on Wednesday) to a small town for a Saturday wedding and flying from Cork to France, etc., on Monday morning.

I'm assuming/hoping I can return the rented monkey suit/accessories by mail. There are a couple possibilities that seem plausible:

- Rent in Seattle, mail from Cork. Issues: keeping it in good condition on international flights/buses, international mailing, week plus rental time.

- Rent in Dublin or Cork. Issues: international banking and deposit return (as of now, no chip/PIN card), also something of a long rental.

Have you done something like this? Have you got any advice? Are there avenues I haven't considered?

Do option #1 and bring a small handheld steamer and/or travel iron for day of?

Or buy a monkey suit. This can't be the last time you'll need it. Bonus: you can tailor it to you and look more killer.

Pop into a big chain/corporate tux rental place -- in my area that's Men's Wearhouse. They may have a partnership agreement with a place in Cork or Dublin, so you can get measured now, and and increase the changes that the place you pick it up from in Ireland will actually have the proper size ready to go for you.

Based on my husband's experience, buying a tux is actually not that much more expensive than renting one, so you may want to look into that just to save yourself some trouble!

Alternatively - can you have one of your wedding attendees that is trustworthy just bring it and take it home for you?

Is there any possibility that there is a Cork resident who will be attending the wedding who would be willing/able to handle all the deposit and return stuff, and you just hand them cash? Like, you get fitted at a shop near you, send the (EU/UK - equivalent) measurements to this magical person, and they reserve you the tux and return it after?

Rent in Cork using a credit card. Most US American's don't have chip and pin cards but you can be sure their money is still welcome.

(also, of course, it is nice to contribute to the economy of the country you are visiting)
