Website template for academic conference

Looking for a simple, clean html template for an academic conference in computer science. What I found via Google was mostly too flashy, complicated, or confusing. Will consider WordPress if need be, but just html or php would be preferred.

The typical layout I see at conferences has some menu on the left (for call for papers, dates, program committee, venue, etc.), some text corresponding to the chosen menu item on the right, and a picture with title, dates, and location at the top. So something along those lines would be great.

How about HTML5 Up, the 3 column version of Minimaxing perhaps?

This 2-column design looks like it might be a good fit. Demo.
