Looking for a nice doctor in North Brooklyn!

I'm looking for a new doctor in North Brooklyn or downtown Manhattan (along the L line would be ideal). He or she needs to take Oxford insurance, and most importantly, needs to have evening or weekend hours because I can't miss any work right now.

Oh man, I need a doctor. I have a massive sinus headache that won't go away. I've had it for over a week. The thing is... I'm never sick so I don't really HAVE a usual doctor. The last time I was sick was when I had Bronchitis two years ago, and I wasn't happy with the way my doctor handled it, so I haven't been back to him since.

I'm looking for a doctor in North Brooklyn or downtown Manhattan, who takes Oxford, and, this is the most important part, has evening or weekend hours. My job is crazy intense and I can't miss any work for doctor appointments. The intense work is probably contributing to my killer headache, but what can you do.

I'd really love a doctor who I can talk with, and explain exactly what's going on. So it's important that they have a good "bedside manner" and are easy to communicate with. Help! (and if you have any great tips to deal with sinus headaches, I'll take those too.)

If you have any of the Beth Israel urgent care satellites near you, the doctors working there have hours until 7-8pm on weekdays and there are also saturday hours. It's really just a regular doctor's office with expanded hours, nothing is treated like an ER visit and all of your copays will be the same as for a regular office. All of them take Oxford, or at least Oxford Metro which is what I have.

Actually I have just checked their site and the one in Williamsburg doesn't have weekend hours, but on M&W it is open until 8pm. You might have better luck going to the one on 34th and Park, or the one on W23rd and 8th avenue, which has the best hours of all.

Phillips Family Practice in Union Square has evening and Saturday hours. It's also a Beth Israel affiliate. The waits are crazy (expect to wait at least 40 minutes, if not an hour or more past your appointment time), but the doctors are lovely and they take all the Oxford plans.

Good luck finding someone, but fyi on the L line for the next couple of months: L train to stop weekend service for 5 weeks soon.

This is a little far outside where you're looking (you'd have to take the L to the 6 and then go up to 33rd), but I've been going to City Care and have been quite happy with Dr. Chung. They're open 9:30-4:30 on Saturdays, although there is only one doctor there on the weekends. The one time I saw Dr. MacLennan, I was running on very little sleep, so my memory of the appointment is a touch vague. I've had a long wait exactly once and that was only 30 minutes. (Looking at tilde's comment- yikes, you may be better off trying to find someone on the G or M depending on where you live.)

Response by poster: Hi everyone. Thanks for the suggestions so far. The L train is the bane of my existence! The G and the JMZ also work for me though. I think City Care might be the winner thus far. If this weird little neti pot I just bought doesnt help matters, I think I'll try them this weekend.

Oddly, I've had way better care at City MD than at most other doctors-- I'm a big fan.

But I also wanted to warn against the neti pot if you might have a full blown infection--they can hurt more than help under those conditions.
