Danbury -> Newport - anything cool along the way?

Leaving Danbury, CT at 8-9am on Saturday. Need to be at an event in Newport, RI by 4:30pm. I'm going to tour The Breakers, but what else should I do, either on the way or once I get there? Especially looking for arts & crafts/fabric/yarn stores beyond the usual big box ones.
Lenny and Joes is a favorite seafood place of mine, with multiple locations on 95.

Depends on how you drive.
If you go down to I-95 and go along the coast, you can check out Frank Pepe's pizza in New Haven and also stop off in Mystic, CT. Along that route, the Rocky Neck beach (near Niantic) is a great place to walk along the coast.
If you are going across I-84 you can hit up Hartford, CT. A good place to eat there is Lena's First and Last -- best pizza in the state.

The Cliff Walk is a nice trail along the cliffs behind all of the mansions (looking out on First Beach).
