Where to look for a person who stutters?

I am required to find someone with a stutter for a class project and I've exhausted my contacts.

I need to interview someone with a stutter (in person or over skype) and I've asked on facebook and my family/friends and got nowhere, which is unsurprising as I have a small group of contacts. I've also asked my classmates what they're doing but they had relatively good responses with facebook. I've tried looking for online support/forums to post to, but have found limited success finding them, and nothing has come off that so far.

Any and all suggestions welcome. I'm running out of time and getting desperate.

There are three people online, in the forum, right now.

You could contact Speech and Language practitioners in your area; they work with people who have stutters. Maybe they have a client who'd be willing to help; at the very least they'd be able to mimic a stutter for you and explain its impact on a person's life.

You might contact the folks at SAY. I know they have a roster of adults who stutter and might be able to recommend someone for you. My boss participates and has great things to say about the program.

A project that involves beating the bushes for a person with a disability may be in violation of research ethics. Your school should have a person in charge of research integrity. Using humans for a project needs to follow the rules so that the humans are protected. It's your teacher's job to monitor this.

Memail me. I have a friend/contact who works within the stuttering community and does lots of outreach. I'd be happy to connect you.

IRBs often do not cover things done for class assignments (here's one example), but I would still contact your IRB to ask about this. Or I might ask about it in class: "I am wondering why we don't need ethics board approval for this. In general, doesn't research with human subjects require oversight?" This should be covered in any class where you are doing what would be considered human subjects research if it were conducted outside of a classroom setting.
