I'm just WEIRD! And lost in the mists of time.

Name that pro-weirdness novelty song?

Hive mind, can you help? Tonight I sang to my children a snippet of a song that I recall from the late-night novelty-song radio program of my own youth. (This would be the Chicagoland broadcast area, probably a late-night Sunday show, in the late 70s or early 80s.)

My kids cracked up and I'd love to share the entire song; however my Google-fu is failing, so I turn to Metafilter.

The only snippet I remember has words that go:

Weird, weird, weird, bupbupbupbup
Weird, weird, weird, bupbupbupbup
I'm just WEIRD

The first two lines are lilting, in almost an oompah band cadence.
The bupbupbupbup is sixteenth notes to the quarter notes of the "weird"s that precede them.
The "I'm just WEIRD" is voiced ebulliently.
The vocalist was male.

Suffice to say I relate deeply to this little bit of a ditty, enough so to remember it thirty years later. Indeed, this is the sort of thing that could become anthemic in my weird little family. There is a song on YouTube by Ghost Town called "I'm Weird" that is not it. Friends of MeFi, could you help a sister out?

Response by poster: YES!!! Thanks so much, I can't tell you how delighted I am! Would have never picked it up with that misremembered word.

That link reminds me that the radio program was Dr. Demento.
