Searching for a wedding dress

I'm getting married in July, and I found a potential wedding dress I like (yah! here @ modcloth) but they don't have it available in my size anymore (boo!). Does anybody have suggestions for dresses out there that are similar-ish?

I dig: the knee-length cut, the retro shape (a big skirt, and cut for somebody who has more of an hourglass shape), the modest price, and how it's white and a little wedding-y while not feeling like a Serious Wedding Dress.

Any suggestions or ideas would be very much appreciated - shopping for clothes, and dresses in particular, is not my strong point, so I'm feeling very out of my depth. I'm usually a large/size 10-12.

Did you try contacting Modcloth directly? They've had that dress style for several years now, so they may be in the midst of re-ordering your size.

Best answer: Here's the dress. It's available in a 10.

Trashy Diva (the company that makes the dress) also has several similar dresses on the bridal section of their website.

This dress is also on amazon by a brand called trashy diva. Also Unique Vintage is an online store with similar styles. Other search terms include swing dress.

JJ Bridal just makes to order, all kinds of dresses.

Yeah, just go to Trashy Diva's site. As far as I can tell, this dress is identical.

Modcloth is mostly a reseller with good branding and curation. I've found a lot of their stuff elsewhere. Actually there used to be an entire site devoted to showing people where to find their clothes off-site, but they got it taken down for obvious reasons.

Best answer: That looks an awful lot like Lindy Bop's Ophelia dress (which my wife wore when we got married last year). In all likelihood, it's from the same pattern and factory as the Trashy Diva and Modcloth dresses.

Even with international shipping it surprisingly cheap, and the Lindy Bop folks were really helpful for bringing in sizes that weren't currently in stock.

This question about the exact same dress was asked 3 days ago, though for a different size.

That dress was on my shortlist! Married last year.

Dolly Couture has a lot of awesome retro-ish dresses in tea length. I was completely certain I would get one of these until I tried them, and I ended up getting this model from David's Bridal for my wedding last summer, and absolutely loved it and felt great in it. One piece of advice I can't stress enough is not to fall in love with a particular dress design until you've tried it on. The first design you love is just a starting point. It is amazing how something that looks good on a hanger, or another model, can just fail to do you justice. go in with some style preferences (retro, tea-length were on my list), and bring photos of your examples, and try a bunch of things, but start early and do expect that some of your favorites early in the process are not going to do it for you when you try them on. You absolutely have to see them on you before you know for sure.

Multiple other people have linked you to the very recent thread already so hopefully you've already seen it, but if not can I just refer you to my comment from that thread? Check out Trashy Diva's "Bridal" page: in particular, in addition to the Honey (also out in your size, but try talking to their customer service, checking their reseller stores and websites, eBay, and the "Desperately Seeking Trashy Diva" Facebook page), you might like the Trixie, the Lena (very similar shape but fancier!), and the Deb.

Response by poster: Thank you everybody!!! I ordered the dress in a size 10 and will try some of the other options here if the size or dress doesn't work for me for some reason. It never even occurred to me that ModCloth was reselling the dress from elsewhere - thank you!

Also, I searched the tag "weddingdress" before posting this but didn't see the question asked just 3 days (!) before mine. Great minds think alike, I guess?
