WTF with the HSN Knife Shows?

Late Night Home Shopping Network Filter: Who the hell are buying all of these knife collections? Seriously, do you really need a set of 150 knives? Is the pot reallly sweetened when wait hold on... the package is now 300 knives! Right on, I'm totally been waiting on buying a gigantic steak knife collection, but when you throw in the mystic sword of Eldrethenor on top, I'm sold. What the hell do people do with all of those knives? Is it really popular enough to justify an entire TV segment? Don't people who are looking for knives already know where to go to buy a bunch of knives?

Um ... they use them? Or don't? Or it doesn't really matter? Is this really a question you need a definite answer to?

Grab your local Marketing major, buy them an apple martini, and listen to the horror that is American commerce.

Aren't people supposed to resell them at fleamarkets and such, thus becoming knife millionaires?

Of course not, but its an ungooglable question that's always bugged me. I have more pressing questions on queue, like helping me name my cat.

The more knives they offer, the more likely they'll hit on the one that you've been meaning to buy forever. Or they'll have one that solves a problem you didn't even know there was a knife for! Either way, that opens you up to buying it, and then the multitude of other knives just sweeten the pot.
