Velour Boots in the Rain

Do I need to spray my new velour boots with protectant? Will rain damage this material?

I thought they might be suede but it turns out they're velour. Does precipitation degrade this type of fabric?

Please do not wear your nice new velour boots out in the wet! They will hate it, and waterproofing spray won't do them any favors either.

Rain will definitely damage them, and waterproofing spray probably will as well.

No velour boots in the rain. Wear rainboots and change there. You can spray them but it's to protect from slight moisture/the occasional puddle, not actually wearing them in the rain.

Response by poster: Wow, I had new idea. I figured they'd be OK since velour is synthetic. Thanks for the advice!

Velour is a type of weave, not a material. It's usually made of cotton.

(You could very well have a synthetic velour, it's just more typically cotton)

Not to second-guess you or be rude, but are you sure you mean velour? That seems a very strange choice for footwear, specifically because its lack of durability.
