I am looking for a quick and easy to use Gant Chart software...

I am looking for a nice simple tool for creating gant charts. In the past I have created them in Illustrator, but they are a pain to update this way. I have used Fastrack schedule by AEC in the past, which worked well but is is expensive ($350). Any other suggestions?

My familiarity with Gant Charts is completely through Microsoft Project, which I assumed was going to be the cheapest of possible solutions, but it apparently starts at $599.

You could try Open Workbench. It's free. I downloaded it a while ago, but I was in the middle of a tough deadline, and it's been sitting on my computer, unused. It could be good, though.

(pedantry warning) they're Gantt charts; two t's, named after engineer Henry Gantt. Related are PERT charts; PERT stands for "program evaluation and review technique" and was developed by the Navy. Gantt charts emphasize timelines more than PERT charts do.
