Mulch Be Gone: Help Me De-Mulch Kids Clothes

I have a pile of tights filled with mulch. The playground at my daughter's preschool was just re-mulched and that stuff sticks to everything. Getting it out of tights and socks seems to be the worst. I've tried lint rollers, more time in the dryer, and masking tape. Are there other solutions out there that actually work?

What's your time worth? I'd vote for just buying some new tights. That mulch doesn't sound too sanitary--some of it has manure--and it's probably safer to start over with some new tights and socks for your kid.

That said, I've heard an all-purpose cleaner called Lestoil can be good for greasy and gross laundry stains.

The mulch they sell here for home and school use is often treated in some way to be not terrible; I spent a lot of time picking and ended up with new tights. Then no tights because I hate them.

Is there a way to switch your daughter to jeans and boots a while? I put the kids in denim pants and sandals (warmer part of the world) and just hosed things off as needed.

Response by poster: Thanks Buttons Bellbottom and cartoonella. The mulch does seem pretty benign. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have manure. I think just not wearing tights is likely the best bet. It seems like there must be a better solution out there though.
