Defining custom keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft Word 2010

I recently migrated from Word 2003 to Word 2010, and love it. However, I'm wondering if there's a way I can easily define custom keyboard shortcuts in Word 2010.

I used to be able to easily do custom keyboard shortcuts in the 1990s, when I worked on a Mac. I'd given up a few years ago when I migrated to Word 2003 on a PC. Although I was able to define shortcuts, the shortcut would disappear once I closed a document file.

I tried to Google how to define custom keyboard shortcut in Word 2010 with no luck. I'm hoping there is a Word wizard or three on Metafilter who will be able to help! Thanks in advance.

Best answer: I've only got Word 2013 available to me on this machine, but this fits with my visualisation of what Word 2010 looks like at work:

Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon > Customize

*Yes, I know it's not actually called File on 2007 and 2010, but I think Alt+F still gets you to it.

Best answer: I have Word 2007, and it might be the same.

1. Click Office Button in upper left
2. Click "Word Options"
3. Click "Customize" (5th down on left side)
4. Click Keyboard Shortcuts "Customize" at the bottom part of the window

Best answer: Here it is on my copy of Word 2010 (which looks like it's pretty similar to 2007's and 2013's):
  1. Click the blue "File" button.
  2. Click "Options".
  3. Click "Customize Ribbon"
  4. Next to the "Keyboard Shortcuts:" label near the bottom-left, click "Customize..."

Response by poster: Thank you all so much! I'm sorry it look so long for me to respond - work and life swallowed me for awhile, there.

Now to explore the world of Word keyboard shortcuts...
