Trying to find post about how being a rock musician is not so great

This is stuck in my head. A few years ago I read something online, the gist of which was sort of following someone who starts a band, and how their life start off seeming a lot cooler than their friends who choose more traditional lives/careers, but over time, their friends lives start to look better, and the musician's life, a bit less cool.

I am trying to remember details that might stir it up. I think I saw it, like, over five years ago. It was definitely online (not in print). I think it was written in the second person. I think there's a moment where a girl is talking to the guy in the band and saying how great it is that he's "really doing something with his life" or something like that. The guy in the band doesn't end up being a super-star, but I think he does stay in music, and sort of scraping by....

Can anyone help? Did I dream this? Can anyone find it?

Response by poster: Floydd, YES!! That is the one. Don't know why I remembered it as being in second person. But that is it!

Maybe it was in the second person and someone commented, writing in the second person is for losers.

I have a friend, relatively well known in his genre and since the advent of Facebook posts selfies of himself looking worn out after hours of delays at the airport. What's funny is he looks no different than all us schmucks working in sales, or management, or whatever stuck at the airport and living in hotels.

Although, my younger self would hate to say it, I prefer my office to spending my days driving in a van across the country and back.
