Using Outlook Between PCs and Macs

I have the latest version of Outlook for Mac (the one that came out last week). Everyone in my small office uses Outlook for Windows with a Workgroup Share Add-In to share contacts and calendars. I cannot figure out how to get this to work on my Mac. Please explain this to me like I am 8.

I am using Yosemite on the Mac. The others in my office are using Windows 7 and Office 2010 Standard.

Also, if you can explain to me a way to make a Google Calendar show up in Outlook for Mac, I will name a child after you.

Thanks, as always.

Historically I've had zero luck* getting a google calendar to work with outlook on the PC, so I'm very curious if they've made allowances on the mac.

*Yes, with a paid account you can use Sync, but then you can't use Exchange. Not really a fix.

Best answer: I have a Mac on a mainly Windiws network and ended up just installing Parallels so I could run Outlook for Windows

I have been able to add a Google calendar for VIEWING ONLY in Outlook on the PC. It doesn't show up in Outlook on my Mac, though, so I think it's not supported.

Similarly, the shared calendars I use via Outlook on my PC at work don't show up on Outlook on my Mac. So I'd guess those also aren't supported.

(To be clear -- I am accessing the same Exchange account on both machines.)

If you're trying to access something that is only supported via an Outlook add-in, you'd need to contact the vendor of that add-in to see if they even support Mac Outlook in the first place. My guess is that the answer is probably "no".

Historically Office for Mac hasn't supported add-ins at all, more or less. I haven't seen anything about the new version of Outlook contradicting that.
