Camera vs. Bridal Shower. Fight to the death!

Help me clean our Canon EOS Rebel T1i camera after it came home from the wife's sister's bridal shower with more than a few buttons and dials that are sticky or mushy. For what it's worth it does not smell like vodka and seems to work fine otherwise, for now at least.

Problem:

The power switch lever, mode dial, several buttons on the back, and the removing the lens process on our camera no longer present the definite 'click' type tactile feedback that it had before a drunken night of hotel room and penis themed debauchery. Those things now, and the camera itself seemingly, are all mushy feeling or require a good bit more force than before to actuate.

There is little to no visible residue on anything and the wife can't give me any information on what might have spilled on it. It could be pickle juice, water, fruity drink made with apple cider and gin, or anything in between. It's probably not soda, but that's just a hunch.

Economics:

We bought the camera used from a friend who had it on his quadcoptor and upgraded to something bigger and better. We're not used to having a nice camera but we've enjoyed it. That said, if the only option is to spend a chunk of change to have it looked at by a pro then we're probably going to just let it be since it's working for us in the meantime and cash isn't flowing as freely as we might hope these days.

Experience:

I'm handy. I have small screwdrivers, allen wrenches, torx drivers, prying tools and the like. Even soldering irons are not foreign to me, although I'll defer to pros for anything on a circuit board most times. I'm not averse to following some basic, but still power user/repair shop level, steps for cleaning or disassembling something like this if it's not going to require specialized tools to even get started. Basically, I'm ok with a certain amount of risk if it means saving the hassle and cost of shipping it out or finding a repair shop.

So, basically, I'd love to see some sort of repair guide or DIY tips/tricks/instructable that I haven't seen in my naive, not-really-a-photographer-or-canon expert googling of the subject.

Any ideas? Many thanks.

Response by poster: Shiza. Anything that mentions custom jigs is bad news for doing anything on my own, wonder if Canon = Fujifilm in this regard then? As I feared, it may well be pro or nothing.

Best answer: Take it to a camera repair shop. They will clean the camera, and clean the movable bits.
There are several choices for you in Memphis, check Yelp for reviews of the one closest to you.
