Low cost or free options for therapy and depression treatment in NYC

I'm starting to accept that I desperately need to see a therapist, but I am unemployed (recently moved here to NYC) and have no health insurance. Are there any clinics or hospitals that offer low cost therapy services?

The OpenCounseling.com website has listings for various agencies that offer low-cost, sliding fee counseling.

Hey, I'm sorry you're going through this. I've been there and it did get better. This thread has more resources.

I think students (Psychology, Psychotherapy etc.) in such related programs are treating you for free or for a very low fee. Somehow the equivalent to NYU Dental school or something.

I found a place through the Open Counseling website, and pay $30 per session based on a sliding-scale fee. It's been very good and that website has lots of resources on it.

When I was in training there, some people were paying $10 a session (but that was in the 90s)
