Free app-based magazines?

Hi, I'm not utterly delighted w. The Economist's general tone and editorial leanings, but they don't strike me as horrid and I like all the free content -- seemingly at least most of the weekly magazine -- via the app. Any recommendations for other good app-based magazines w. lots of free downloadable content? I'm mostly looking for news/current events/entertainment content, but I'm open. Thank you for taking a moment to help me.

Pulse app consolidates dozens and dozens of magazines so you can try them out and then subscribe to the one(s) you like. They've re-branded after being acquired by LinkedIn so the link above may give you the impression that it's all about networking but that's just silly marketing - in reality, you get to pick from a bunch of magazines as soon as you open the app, and it doesn't hustle you to do anything else.

Just wanted to clarify - by "subscribe", I mean add to your collection, not pay. It's all free.

This may not be exactly what you asked, but the Zinio app in conjunction with a library membership that subscribes to its service can offer an impressive array of free magazines. Mine includes the Economist, Nat Geo, Newsweek, Rolling Stone (as popular examples).
