Wedding Night NYC

Wedding Night Hotel NYC. I'm looking for a hotel room for our wedding night in October.

We have a 1 day 2 night gap between the wedding and when we leave on the honeymoon. We are getting married in and live in NYC. What's a good hotel that will feel romantic and classy? (Bonus points for functional fireplace in room). Reviews online seem geared to honeymoon stays and convenience to local attractions, we're looking more for a really awesome room with a really awesome view and other amenities, for an awesome night or two. We can splurge if it's worth it, but something cheaper with character would also be interesting.

I think we're looking for an NYC experience we wouldn't normally have in our daily lives.

I eloped to NYC (from Eastern PA) in 2009 -- we got a suite at the London and it was wonderful.

I'd look at:

Greenwich Hotel
The Surrey
The Sherry-Netherland
Mandarin Oriental

But, the nice rooms with fireplaces/views will be pretty pricey. I'd also look at AirBnB - if you're going to be spending $700+/night you'd might as well have a penthouse loft or a whole townhouse.

If you're at all into food, maybe stay at home (or a cheaper hotel) and splurge on Eleven Madison Park...

I've stayed at a suite in the Essex House. It was right after Jumeirah bought it and it was a STEAL on Travelocity for $450 a night. It was gorgeous!

The Plaza should have what you want too.

Casablanca Hotel Times Square is #1 on Trip Advisor.

The Sherry Netherland might be a great choice too.

Response by poster: Ended up going with the Helmsley Park Lane because of their guaranteed late checkout and breakfast package deal thinger. Thanks all!
