My wife and I are looking to spend an October weekend in Charleston, SC. Any B&B or inn recommendations in the old town/historic parts of the city?

I can recommend the French Quarter Inn. I would stay there again if I ever were back in Charleston. The reviews on TripAdvisor were pretty accurate. Rooms and bathrooms were very spacious and kept very clean. Common areas were comfortable. The bath products were lovely. I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast delivered to my room, as well as the snacks, and wine and cheese served in the common areas. Most importantly, it was centrally located enough that I could walk to everything I wanted to see, as well as a multitude of very nice dining options.

The main con was the valet only parking. It took forever to get my car when I left. (Boo!!!) I would probably not stay here if I planned to use my car a lot. Also,
folks on TripAdvisor mentioned the thinness of the the walls. That's a pretty common problem in hotels and was not an issue for me here except once or twice when I heard someone's TV. (So, probably not a problem, but YMMV.)

The property itself is pretty new. However, if you take one of Charleston's haunted history tours (recommended), you might hear a few disturbing things about the land it was built on.
