Media-based volunteering in the New York metro area?

Hey Internet. I'm a recent grad, and I loved the media-based extracurriculars I had in college (radio, newspaper, etc.). Do you know of any small media outfits (zines, indie newspapers, indie radio stations, off-beat special interest websites, etc.) that typically need volunteers in New York, New Jersey, or Philadelphia? I already know about WFMU. Thanks!

In Philadelphia, the public radio stations are WXPN (affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania), WRTI (affiliated with Temple University), and NPR affiliate WHYY, all on the FM dial.
