Unlock sharing in iTunes 6

Speaking of iTunes. Has anyone found a way to circumvent the '5 users/day" sharing policy of iTunes 6?

I've done cursory searching but have found nothing. There seem to be a few workarounds, such as password-protecting it to limit scans, but there's still a limit.

mt-daapd is a nice alternative server that will work instead of iTunes to share your music with other iTunes clients. It doesn't have the 5 connections/day limit.

The catch: You have to run it on a mac or linux, and it's not quite as easy to use as iTunes.

See also accessTunes and slimserver (although I understand that is more of a streaming server). For Windows there's myTunesRedux. I don't know how iTunes updates impact these applications.

myTunes is not immune to the iTunes 5-a-day limit.

If you ssh to the machine that's sharing the music, and tunnel through the ssh connection, the iTunes running on that machine will think that connection is coming from 127.0.0.1. Perhaps this could be exploited if you are willing to have a lot of people ssh'ing in to your box.

iTunes might not allow multiple simultaneous connections from one address, though.

There's no way to get around this besides changing executable code on individual computers. I don't know of any way to do this currently. A new version of mytunes will be released shortly that gets around this problem.
