What have been the most interesting and influential viral dance videos?
May 3, 2014 11:18 AM   Subscribe

A friend of mine is starting a research project on dance videos (which certainly doesn't mean just ones created by professionals - so e.g. Saudi penguin dances are just as interesting as Gangnam Style) that have gone viral on Youtube or other online platforms. Many examples may comprise of both professional and amateur creation e.g. Happy . The key thing is that dance is the *main* reason for the viral spread. What are the most interesting and influential (or otherwise noteworthy!) examples of this in your experience? Thanks for your suggestions!!

How about the videos from that Korean prison where the inmates do things like, re-enact the Thriller dance or some such?

It's from a few years back, but jumpstyle seems like it sort of fits.

It was the music video for a lead single, but Lotus Flower and the discussion around it went viral primarily because of how profoundly weird Yorke's interpretive dance was.
