I want to take a camcorder that writes to an SD card on a trip where I won't have computer access. What small, light, and cheap portable-hard-drive type device will allow me to download images from the card so that I don't have to buy lots of expensive SD cards? The camcorder is a Sanyo xacti C5 and includes a docking station with USB port.

The Roadstor (pdf) is the coolest thing I've seen for this purpose but I'm not sure if it'll burn video files or just images.

Belkin will soon be releasing something called USB On-the-Go that may be just what you want. I wish I had something like it on my summer vacation. There may be other companies making similar stuff; search Engadget.

The Digital Wallet was, I think, the first product to market that does what you want. This enclosure looks like it would work either with your camera's USB connection or with a small USB-2-SD adapter.

Finally, this iPod accessory will allow you to copy the contents of your SD card (and other card formats) to a 3G iPod.

I was in Mexico City for a bit with a fairly small Memory Stick in my camera. I had good luck going to internet cafes, transferring the pics to a computer, then burning them to CD. The cafe sometimes charged an extra buck or two for the CD, sometimes they just gave me one.
