Where to stay in Chattanooga?

First visit to Chattanooga. Where should we stay?

My wife and I moved to GA (from MA) a couple of years ago and we're finally going to start exploring. We decided to try Chattanooga overnight next weekend. Where's a good place to stay? I guess we'll try to visit the aquarium, ruby falls, rock city. Is there someplace else we HAVE to see?

The Read House is nice. The International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum is in Chattanooga. Cloudland Canyon is in GA, but on the way to/from 'Nooga.

The Read House has always been my favorite although I believe it has been remodeled since my last stay.

Leave Chattanooga, head towards Nashville on I-24 for about 45 minutes, when you get to the top of a mountain get off I-24, head west. When you reach Sewanee, stop. After you've wandered around the campus and taken in the views, go for a hike on one of the many, many, many trails in the area.

PS - don't speed, Sewanee cops have nothing better to do.

Oh, I grew up there so I'm a bit biased you might say.

My parents just moved there from Atlanta, and my wife and I stay at the Chanticleer Inn when their extra bedroom is already taken. Great little bed and breakfast, and it's close to everything. Can't recommend it highly enough.

If they're full, there's one other Inn that seems nice, although I can't personally vouch for it (can't remember the name right now...).

The state line goes right over the top of the mountain, so their address is in Georgia, but Rock City is still within walking distance.

Feel free to send me an e-mail if you have other questions...I'm actually heading up that way in the morning, and will jot down the name of the other inn for you.
