Selling ads online

My company's website is interested in selling online advertising in the form of banners (no Google AdWords or similar). We want to target medium-large companies/retailers that complement (not compete for) our product line.

In fact, our warranty questionnaire has shown us the percentage interest in complementary types of products that our site visitors/purchasers are interested in. We get lots of qualified visitors but have no experience in selling online ads. Do you know of any *reputable* agencies that handle this sort of thing that could seek out qualified/targeted companies and solicit them? Someone who could also help us correctly price the ads or come up with a rate card, rather than hit and miss due to our inexperience? Any suggestions or personal experiences welcome.

You've probably seen the comprehensive article on banner ads at howstuffworks.com; if not, it's worth looking at because it mentions various options you have.

My sense is that unless you have a very high-volume website, it may be very difficult to find someone who will work with/for you to tailor the banner ads that appear to be exactly to your specifications (complementary products, not competitors).
