Please help me find a comfortable and cool looking office chair in NYC.

Please offer suggestions for interesting places to shop for office chairs in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Have not had luck with Staples and the like along the lines of durability. Willing to drop some dough, as this is me seat for the lion's share of my week. Any thoughts?

Best answer: Last year my husband and I dropped a hunk of change for an Aeron chair for our home office. Expensive but totally worth it--we'd each logged many hours in that model at our work offices and the seats held up infinitely better and far more comfortably than any Ikea special we'd bought for ourselves in the past.

They are spendy but this is the week that they're on sale at Design Within Reach. There are several in NYC.

If you want to not pay quite so much, check out the DWR Annex in Secaucus. It's worth the trip.

If I had all the monies to spend on a chair, I would get me a Swopper chair. All the ergonomic happy funtimes of sitting on a yoga ball and a neat piece of industrial design to boot.

Seach your local craigslist for high end office furniture words (I.e. Aeron, steelcase). You may find a private party with a chair you want, but you'll almost certainly find somebody with a warehouse full of used office furniture, including plenty of nearly bulletproof used chairs.

Oh, I love Lee's. It's one of my favorite NYC stores (in a great holiday-window neighborhood, too) and don't judge by the website. Lots of interesting chairs, some pretty pricey, but very contemporary.
