Pickled Watermelon Rinds Poem?

I recall reading a poem in third or fourth grade on the theme of late summer, involving pickled watermelon rinds and smoking corncob pipes filled with stolen cigarette butts while hanging out high up in a tree. Very specific, I know but I can't find it anywhere. Help?

The pickled watermelon rinds were mentioned in the title, I think, which I remember being fairly long.
Third or fourth grade for me would have meant 1982-84 -- dunno if that helps at all.
