Help me find a book: crab fishing

Back in the late 80s/early 90s, I read an excerpt of a book about a man's experience as a crab fisherman in the Bering Sea in The Reader's Digest. I was only around ten years old, so I wasn't exactly thinking about taking notes of the title and author. Help me now find this book, please! Details inside.

The book is a first-person account of the author's trips out on a crab boat during the 70s and early 80s. I'm sure he talks about all facets of crab fishing, but I only really remember two. One was where he talks about the need to break up ice collecting on the boat from the spray. The other, more interesting facet was how some of his trips were not entirely legal. For instance, he describes one trip and all his shipmates on the particular boat are all given pseudonyms because it is noted that the boat went fishing in Soviet territorial waters.

That's about all I remember, unfortunately. I've looked at RD's archive online and not been able to come up with much. Help me, Ask Metafilter, you're my only hope!

Yeah, here's a Google books preview that sounds like your book.
