Men's Formal Attire

Formal Attire: Wedding. Groom and ringbearers (7 and 8 year old boys) wearing charcoal grey wool blend suits (three button). What shirts and ties are there for us?

I'm thinking "Oscar Night" and early 60's James Bond eloquence and aplomb. But locally and googly only find "current fashion". Big colorful ties, etc.

1. Can you help me find photos of currently existing styles that fit our need?

2. Where can I get such things. I've been googling for weeks and I'm at a loss.

Well dressed Mefites, I need your help.

While I am sure many Mefites are able to find the right match for those wool suits, the only correct answer is "Whatever The Bride Wants." Have you vetted things with her?

Ha! Robo, you are right on the money. She is thinking about, maybe, having bone/ivory colored shirts that might complement her dress. As she is going to be more beautiful than any of us have ever seen her, I thought we should complement her level of formality and sophistication, rather than her color scheme.

Since you ask, another consideration is the photography. It will be a b/w and color combo.

You *could* complement her dress ... or, you could be as plain as possible - in order to make her look as fab as possible. I'd go for white shirts -w/ french cuffs and cuff links for the groom - and a silver/gray silk tie for the groom and smaller straight black ties for the ringbearers. Finding nice solid ties that aren't too wide can be a pain. I usually try Men's Wearhouse (sp.?) and similar places, they'll prolly have some a la carte wedding shirt/tie combos for you to look at for about $40-50 a pop.

Don't be afraid to go with colorful ties, so long as they fit with the theme (and aren't too colorful. In our wedding, our ties matched the bridesmaids' dresses, color-wise. Green was also a theme in our wedding colors. In the grand scheme of things, us guys are just additional decorations. We might as well fit into the color scheme.

Also, since you'll be having b&w photography, a pattern of some sort can add some interest to the silk around your neck.

And like robocop said - whatever the bride wants.
