East Bay bars to watch the Series for people who don't like sports bars.

Back when I lived in Boston and the Sox were in the playoffs, I would occasionally go to this bar
around the corner from my apartment to watch the games.
It was kind of the perfect New England neighborhood bar, and I'm looking for a similar place in the East Bay.

It wasn't specifically a sports bar, but the TV always had the game on--loud enough to hear, but not so loud that it felt like it was going to split open my skull. It was busy enough to feel convivial, but it was always possible to get a seat. If I wanted to make casual conversation with strangers, I could, but it was also possible to be left alone. It was most definitely not a meat market. It was likewise anything but a gastropub or a microbrewery. It served some food, but there was no pressure to order anything but a beer every couple of innings.
The Sox are in the World Series. I feel wicked homesick. Is there a bar like this in the East Bay where I can go watch the game this weekend?
