Toronto Renters Insurance?

I need to buy some Renters Insurance (also known as Tenants Insurance) but am overwhelmed by the options available. Torontonians, who do you use? (note: I have no car so currently I have no insurance whatsoever.) Thanks for your help!

I use CAA right now. I think they gave me the cheapest quote.

Are you an alumnus of a Canadian university? I don't currently have renter's insurance (though I probably should) but when I was looking into it a couple years ago I found that Meloche Monnex offers pretty good rates for alumni of many Canadian post-secondary institutions. Try the free online quote and see if your alma mater is in the list.

I went with State Farm. It was relatively easy to setup and it's not that expensive. Here's their online quote generator.

Your best bet for finding the best deal (including the most appropriate coverage) is probably an independent insurance broker.

Response by poster: Thanks, everybody. My school was indeed on the Monnex list and I have requested a quote from them. I'm going to get quotes from other Insurance Brokers as well... we'll see how they add up. If anyone else has any tips or hints, please don't hesitate to add them to this thread. Thanks Again!

Don't confuse an insurance agent with an insurance broker. An independent insurance broker should be able to compare all the available products (from any company) for you.
