Where to buy a tuxedo shirt online?

Where can I find a decent tuxedo shirt online?

I have this tuxedo. I need a shirt that will look good with it.

I prefer a shirt that takes studs and cuff links rather than buttons. I don't care for the buttonless one pictured in the link.

Difficulty: I have to order it online for shipment to a US address. I am abroad and can't get to a store in time.

I'm not sure about collars. Maybe a point collar? Spread collars look too wide to me. On the other hand, it should match with the jacket so maybe an older style is more appropriate? (Any advice?)

I know my sizes so I'm not too worried about fit. My main concern is quality, but I don't want to pay too much. I have seen shirts ranging from $20 to as high as $400. I think the $20 shirt is probably too low in quality for my purposes and the $400 one is overkill. I would like to keep the cost under $100 if possible.

So, where should I be looking for a decent tuxedo shirt?

Jos. A. Bank is probably a decent place to start.

That said... I wear a tuxedo several times a month for a variety of reasons, and I would recommend against getting a "tuxedo shirt." Anything with a wing collar or a bunch of pleats will only be usable with a tuxedo. My advice would be to get a high quality white dress shirt with French cuffs. This will be something you can wear with a tuxedo, with a suit, with a blazer or even with a pair of jeans.

I prefer a shirt that takes studs and cuff links rather than buttons.

Shirts for black tie usually are equipped for both buttons and studs. Don't be thrown off if the pictured shirt has buttons. Amazon has a lot. Definitely do not get a poly blend. 100% cotton is the way to go. You can get a decent one for about $50.

I generally wear a point collar for black tie functions.

And, for the love of Pete, please tie your tie. There are few things more disheartening to me than when I attend a black tie event and I see men wearing clip-on ties. A bow tie is the same knot as you use to tie your shoes - it is not that hard. (please forgive me if this advice does not apply to you)

At $400, that shirt had better be made to measure. Brooks Brothers' regular line tuxedo shirts are $135. The Black Fleece ones (and Black Fleece normally passes muster with the classic-menswear fashion police) are $175. Both a little higher than your $100 mark. You could probably bring the standard line one down closer to the $100 mark by opening a credit card with the store (15% off your first purchase). Retailmenot has a coupon code for $10 off if you don't want the card.

I got the tuxedo shirt for my wedding online from Thomas Pink.

For a cheaper option, you could go with Indochino and get it made to measure online.

Response by poster: Slkinsey I don't mind having a shirt that is only used with the tux.

Funny story--I never learned to properly tie my shoes. I am left handed and everybody who tried to teach me was right handed. Eventually they gave up and taught me the bunny ears method. As a result, I wear slip on shoes most of the time even now.

Anyhow, I was planning to use a clip on but then I found this so I am going to teach myself to tie a bow tie.
