Mold inspection in DC?

I live in an apartment in Washington DC. I suspect that my air conditioning/heating unit is filled with mold. Any recommendations for mold inspection services?

I have a mold allergy and I've had symptoms of coughing, congestion, etc. for weeks. There was mold growing on the outside of the vents, but I cleaned it up with Tilex mold and mildew solution. However, I've been turning on the A/C and I'm still experiencing the same symptoms. My apartment hasn't responded to any maintenance requests that I know of - the last one I filed that I have on record was on September 6. At this point I'm ready to pay someone for an air quality test or air conditioner inspection so that I might potentially break my lease.

Does anyone have any suggestions for reputable mold inspection services? How much would it cost? TIA!

Yelp would be a good place to start.

I rent an apartment. What are my landlord’s responsibilities to remove mold?

If you are a tenant, you should report suspected housing violations to your resident manager, property manager or landlord. If your property manager does not address or resolve the problem within ten (10) days, then you should report your problem directly to the District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA).

If you've got a neighborhood listserv, I'd suggest asking there. Those sorts of requests bubble up all the time on the ones I'm subscribed to.

If you're in a managed building, I'd suggest making a stink with the leasing company before hiring someone on your own. They're usually more receptive to demands of this sort than private landlords are.
