Who Do I Need to Ask? [Song Edition]

Hi Mefites - Help me figure out a song I heard [for the wife]!
The only clear lyric I could make out was a male singer singing, "all you have to do is ask me to" as the chorus, or so it seemed.
Please help me help my wife. Here's what she had to tell me!
"I was in my favorite lunchtime spot today and I heard a song that I fell in love with. The problem is, I could barely hear it over the lunchtime crowd, and I don't have a smartphone with Shazam.
The only clear lyric I could make out was a male singer singing, "all you have to do is ask me to" as the chorus, or so it seemed. It was super mellow. There were female backup singers. Maybe some saxophone. Somewhat reggae-ish, I think, but very, very faint. You're probably thinking, "Oh, it's UB40's version of "I would do for you." It's not. I promise. I've listened to just about every version of the song on iTunes preview, and I think it's a different song than "I would do for you," but when I google that one line of lyrics, that's the only song I come up with.
FWIW, I think the place I was eating at probably has Pandora, or some other 'net radio service.
Please, please help me find this song! Thank you in advance!"

Can you try calling the place to see what they were playing for music that day? If you can get the pandora station I bet you can find it.

"Ask" by the Smiths?
"If there's something you'd like to try // Ask me, I won't say no // How could I"

Was it If You Asked Me To by Patti Labelle? Maybe the cover by Johnny Mathis?

Best answer: > I'm not sure if their version has the same lyrics as UB40's or not.
The google search string ["all you have to do is ask me to" +lyrics] pulls up both Slightly Stoopid and UB40 with that exact phrase.

Response by poster: Alas, my wife has told me that none of the suggested is the song she heard. Any other suggestions?

Response by poster: Okay, turns out my wife was mistaken about having heard the Slightly Stoopid version. She is now dancing to it, so a belated thanks for helping to identifying it!
